What it is

Clear aligners made for children.

Invisalign First is a clear aligner system from Align Technology designed for younger children, usually while they still have a mix of baby and adult teeth. It can be used in early (first-phase) treatment for problems such as crowding, spacing or narrow arches.

The aligners are removable, with no brackets or wires. That also means they only work if they are worn as instructed, so parents play a big part.

Is it right for my child?

It depends on the child

  • Their age and stage of tooth development
  • The problem that needs attention, if any
  • Whether they are ready to wear aligners most of the day

For some children an expander, another appliance, or simply monitoring is the better choice. Dr Amna, an Invisalign Platinum Provider, explains which and why.

For parents

What the first visits look like.

Every mouth is different. Whether this treatment suits you, how long it may take and the fee are confirmed only after an in-person assessment with Dr Amna.

  1. The check. A gentle examination of your child's teeth, bite and jaw growth.
  2. The plan. Treat now, wait or monitor, explained in plain words for you and your child.
  3. If aligners suit. A digital scan, then aligners with simple wear-and-care routines for home.
  4. Reviews. Regular check-ins while your child grows.

Questions

Common questions.

At what age should my child have an orthodontic check?

Dr Amna sees children from age 6. An early check does not mean early braces. Many children only need monitoring, and the visit tells you whether anything needs attention now, later, or not at all.

How many hours a day do I need to wear Invisalign aligners?

Aligners only work while they are in your mouth. Align Technology, the maker of Invisalign, recommends wearing them for 20 to 22 hours a day and taking them out only to eat, drink anything other than water, and clean your teeth.

What happens at the first consultation?

Dr Amna asks about your concerns, examines your teeth, bite and jaws, and may take photos, a digital scan or X-rays if they are needed to plan treatment. She then explains your options, whether treatment is needed now, and the next steps.

Will I need a retainer after treatment?

Yes. Teeth can drift back towards their old positions, so almost everyone wears a retainer after braces or aligners. Dr Amna will explain which type you need and how long to wear it.
