Why check early

An early check is about timing.

Some problems are easier to guide while a child's jaws are still growing. Others are better left until more adult teeth come in. An early check, from age 6, tells you which applies to your child.

Many children who are checked early need no treatment at all, only a review as they grow. When treatment is useful, Dr Amna explains why now and what it aims to do.

Things parents may notice

Worth mentioning at a check

  • Crowded, blocked-out or very widely spaced teeth
  • Baby teeth lost very early or very late
  • Top and bottom teeth that do not meet properly, or a jaw that shifts when biting
  • Thumb or finger sucking that continues as adult teeth come in
  • Mostly breathing through the mouth
  • Difficulty biting or chewing

How it works

Treat now, wait, or monitor.

Every mouth is different. Whether this treatment suits you, how long it may take and the fee are confirmed only after an in-person assessment with Dr Amna.

  1. The check. A gentle first visit from age 6 to look at jaw growth, bite and oral habits.
  2. The plan. A plain explanation of what Dr Amna sees and whether anything needs doing now.
  3. The tools, only if needed. Expanders, growth-guiding appliances or Invisalign First.
  4. Reviews. Check-ins as your child grows, so the right moment is not missed.

Questions

Common questions.

At what age should my child have an orthodontic check?

Dr Amna sees children from age 6. An early check does not mean early braces. Many children only need monitoring, and the visit tells you whether anything needs attention now, later, or not at all.

What happens at the first consultation?

Dr Amna asks about your concerns, examines your teeth, bite and jaws, and may take photos, a digital scan or X-rays if they are needed to plan treatment. She then explains your options, whether treatment is needed now, and the next steps.

How often will I need to come to the clinic?

Most patients are seen every 4 to 8 weeks, depending on whether they have braces or aligners. If you travel or live outside Dubai, ask about planning your visits around your schedule.

How much does treatment cost?

The fee depends on your case and the type of treatment, so it is given to you after your assessment rather than listed online. Ask the clinic about payment options, such as monthly instalments, when you book.
